Happy 7th Birthday, Kendall

Kendall's 7th birthday was nothing less than fabulous-Kendall-style! This year's theme was HOLLYWOOD and the party wouldn't have been complete without her star-studded guest list, the red carpet and VIP areas featuring Hannah Montana and Chad Danforth.

And of course there's always one party crasher that gets caught with his hand in the popcorn machine!

First Day of School

Summer's officially over and now we're headed back to school. This is Evan's first year at school so - yes - they're all out of the house (at least part-time).

Kendall was up and ready at the crack of dawn.
Evan, however, wasn't as eager. (Not a morning person!!)
Once Evan remembered he was going to school with Big Brother Christian and could take his Diego lunchbox, Evan was ready to hit the road.

Mom and Dad accompanied the boys on the first day. (Note-no smile from Evan)

Even though he loves his teacher, Evan realizes he's not exactly thrilled about being at school. However, it turns out Evan had a wonderful time. Christian checked in on Evan throughout the day and even showed him all of his favorite playground activities. Christian has matured overnight into a wonderful big brother!!

AAU Nationals Track and Field

It was truly amazing for Will and I to travel to Des Moines, Iowa and participate in the AAU Jr. Olympics. We had the chance to meet athletes and supporters from all over the country. Will was fortunate to compete in 3 events and we both left with a much deeper appreciation for the sport of track and field.

The stadium was packed and energized!!

Will competed in the high jump, 400m and 800m.

We had a chance to catch some tourist spots and have a little fun.

Congratulations (Again) Will

William has worked very hard this summer with his track club - and it has paid off. After competing in local, district, and regional meets, William qualified to compete in the AAU National Jr. Olympics in 3 events (high jump, 400M and 800M). This was his first year doing some the the middle distance races. We all knew he could do it but he proved it!!! He will be traveling to Des Moines, Iowa in August to compete against top athletes across the country. GOOD JOB, WILL!!!

Happy Birthday, Mom

My birthday was very special this year thanks to very special family and friends!!! The highlight of my week, however, was the Birthday Ensemble. We have Kendall on piano, Will on trumpet, vocals by Christian, Nia, Bradley and William. Evan is the interpretive dancer.

The kids ventured out to the neighborhood pool for a little splash time.

Happy 4th of July

The kids began the festive day with flags in hand.



The Mitchell Family continued the annual tradition of fellowship with family and friends at Granny and Grand-daddy Bright's home.

We then stopped and watched some fireworks from the van before we crashed in on the Smitherman's for a spectacular fireworks show

Evan even found a cute little girl to take for a spin around the block!

We were so happy to see Uncle John and Aunt Cheronda for the weekend!

Kendall's Dance Recital

Princess Kendall enjoyed participating in her annual dance Recital!!

Congratulations, Kendall. We are so proud of you!!

...And - Yes - Kendall makes her track debut this year

Kendall is following in the spikes of her big brother, Will. She got her feet wet this year and participated in her first meet.

She had a great time so stay tuned for next year when she officially becomes a part of the team.
